June is here, school is out, and it’s time for some outdoor enjoyment. The boats are getting in the water, and the sun is shining.
Flag Day, June 14th, commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States by the Second Continental Congress in 1777. Flag Day is not an official federal holiday, but we have been observing it for almost 100 years now. Wave them high people. Show your national pride, and let her fly.
May has Mother’s Day, and June has Father’s Day. Show some love for the dad’s of the world. Take your pop out to eat, or better yet, buy him a beer at one of The Great Outdoors shows.
Enjoy the sun, and see you at one of the shows.

Memorial Day is tomorrow, and The Great Outdoors hope that you have a wonderful day. We would like to take a moment to remember, and pay our respects to the men and women who have given their lives in service to our nation. Let’s make a commitment to help the families of these fallen heroes, and also give continued support to vets everywhere.
With the rising costs of fuel, traditional travel for this weekend definitely has hit a major obstacle. We know there are many of you who have had to cancel trips to see family. Keep your chins up, and have a good time anyway. Give the fam a jingle on the phone instead. Summer time is here, and we can all have fun in spite of the price of oil.
Anyway, have a good Memorial Day weekend.

The benefit for little Tristen Thompson was a nice success. We help raise some money to offset the costs of Tristen’s medications and managed to have a great time doing it. Tristen suffers from Von Willebrand Disease, a rare and dangerous blood disorder. Some of his medications run $700.00 plus for just a small amount. It was nice to see a community come together to raise some money to help pay for some of the medical bills. As you know, in this day and age, those can be a mind boggling burden. Thanks to all who gave of their time and money to help out.
Just The Guys started things off about 8:15 and played some good ol’ country for the enthusiastic crowd. The Great Outdoors followed with the help of Terry Mackner (vocals and accoustic guitar) & Bryan Aamold (steel guitar) from Silverado. The rest of the evening was pretty much a jam session with all the local musicians pitching in.
Barbecue, chips, and deserts were provided for the people in attendance. If you were hungry, it was your own fault.
Some of the silent auction items included Patriots and Giants Championship T’s and BOB 95 FM T’s. Other items included frames, wall hangings, and other nick nacks. The auction went well, raising a good bit of money for Tristen.
All in all, the night went pretty good.
Tristen Thompson has a fund raising account at Wells Fargo Bank. You can make donations at any Wells Fargo for Tristen. Carol, his mother, could definitely use some medical bill relief. Even if you couldn’t make the benefit, you can still donate.
