December is upon us. That means it is time to scramble and get those special gifts for those special people to open on Christmas day. It also means 2008 is coming to an end. Time for quiet reflection on the last twelve months, and time to gather the personal changes we all plan to commit to in 2009. The weather has been mostly tolerable, but we all know it is only a matter of time before the ground is covered in a blanket of white, and you can leave those pounds of recently hunted venison stored in the garage to save space in the freezer. Enjoy what is left of 2008, and have a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year.

Ho! Ho! Ho!…Merry Christmas!!! ‘Tis The Season! Feliz Navidad! You know what that means. Let’s all remember the day for what it really means, not just the time of "getting" gifts. Celebrate life and love with friends and family. Bring smiles to those that surround you every day, and those that you haven’t seen in quite a while. Let’s be kind to others, and give to the children of our communities. All in all, do as you SHOULD do every day of the year. Enjoy the holidays everyone!

Bring in 2009 in style. It has been a long twelve months. We’ve seen gas prices soar, and seen them come back to where it is once again bearable (Did you ever think you would be cheering for $1.59 gas? Those of you who don’t remember $.99 and under gas, you are lucky. You’re already used to spending to get around). We watched a presidential campaign end with the election of the country’s first African/American President, Barack Obama. Ramon’s Cubs came close, again, to getting to the big series. Oh yeah, The Great Outdoors got their first release, " A Day On" placed in Froggy 99.9′s rotation. Celebrate the coming of the New Year, but keep those police at bay, and be safe. We hope to see you in Superior, WI for the marathon New Years Eve celebration at Shooter’s. It will be one heck of a time.

The Great Outdoors would like to wish all of our friends and families a wonderful and filling Thanksgiving. We hope the turkeys are plentiful, and the pumpkin pie sweet. Enjoy yourselves and spend some quality time with the family. Happy Thanksgiving.

For those of you who made plans to go to Pistol Pete’s this evening, Wednesday, we are sorry for any inconvenience the late cancelation caused. We were as surprised as you that Wednesday was dropped from the schedule. This is the part of the business none of us like, but it does happen. Anyway, we hope to see y’all this weekend. We WILL be there.

Today, I went out and cast my vote for the Presidential candidate of my choice. This election will probably be the most historic since Washington was first sworn into the office of President of The United States. No matter who you cast your vote for, the outcome will yield either the country’s first female Vice President, or the first African American to occupy the White House.

We all know that it is our right and our duty to voice our opinions in the national elections. While many feel that our votes don’t count, in the long run, each vote means something. I heard some teenagers explaining to each other that North Dakota votes Republican all the time. I have not been a ND resident long enough to know if this is true, but I was a resident of Virginia, and according to the news, the state may swing to the Democratic candidate for the first time since this voter can remember. Each vote does count.

I hope you get out to the polls and let your voice be heard. This is what drives this country, and sets it aside from others. Our system, while not completely flawless, is the best.
